Welcome to the Parish of Wilmslow

Our Aims and Mission

Jesus said, "I came that they might have life, and have it abundantly" (John 10:10)

As part of the Diocese of Chester in the Church of England, the parish of Wilmslow is committed to the following five aims:

  • To proclaim the good news of God's kingdom

  • To teach, baptise and nurture new Christian believers

  • To respond to human need by loving service

  • To seek to change unjust structures of society

  • To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and to sustain the life of the earth

This is why we are here as a church. All of this is surrounded and sustained by our worship and prayer.

We are very lucky here in Wilmslow Parish to have a wonderful ministry team of assistant clergy and lay readers, and many committed lay people. Please see our webpage "About us" for further information.

At the moment the Parish has three main priorities:

1. Growth in numbers: especially through projects like "Messy Church" (see the webpage), we are hoping to draw more and more people into the life of the church and onto the journey of faith in Jesus Christ.

2. Growth in discipleship: we run a number of courses each year in which people can learn more about the Christian faith, explore issues and ask questions. There is "God for grown ups", confirmation classes and our Lent course held with Churches Together in Wilmslow.

3. Growing together: Through social events and church services as a parish we are trying to deepen and develop our relationships with one another as fellow Christians, so that people can see that faith in Jesus Christ makes a real difference to our lives. Come and join us and catch the vision!
